The actor revealed he has received calls from production companies urging him to temper his public political statements.

Alan Ritchson, the lead actor in the popular series “Reacher,” has asserted that various production studios have attempted to discourage him from discussing politics publicly, particularly after he gained attention for his outspoken views.
During a Fan Expo Canada panel earlier this month, Ritchson made a lighthearted comment about the warnings he's received from production companies regarding his public political engagement.
“You know how many phone calls I get from studios like, ‘Would you shut the f--- up, please? Stop talking in public,’” Ritchson recounted. “I mean, but it’s not chaos I’m after. It’s actually the opposite of chaos. I’d like a little — I’m not going to get into it. You don’t want to see my rants starring these g------ f------ politicians everywhere.”
He continued, adding, “I’m not going to do it. Sony told me not to. And I’m not going to say anything. Not today. Not today, [Jeffrey] Epstein.”
Following applause from the audience for these remarks, Ritchson exchanged a fist bump with the moderators and declared, “Pedos win.”
Controversial Storyline Claim
Ritchson also alleged that Amazon Prime Video decided against a “Reacher” storyline that would have featured White supremacists, suggesting the decision had political undertones.
Last week, in a comment on Threads, Ritchson responded to a fan who expressed disappointment that the Amazon Prime Video series would not adapt a particular book in the series where Jack Reacher “kills his way through a White supremacist militia camp.”
Ritchson replied that he had advocated for the adaptation of that specific book but was ultimately turned down. He hinted that this rejection was linked to the return of President Donald Trump to office.
“My favourite book. Fun fact: I had it approved until someone got re-elected,” Ritchson wrote.
Criticism of Conservative Christians
A self-professed Christian, Ritchson has previously criticized conservative Christians for their support of Republican figures. In an April 2024 interview, he voiced strong opinions regarding Christian supporters of Trump.
“Trump is a rapist and a con man, and yet the entire Christian church seems to treat him like he’s their poster child and it’s unreal. I don’t understand it,” Ritchson stated.
A month later, he claimed that he was “met with violence” for expressing these and other perspectives.
“If you want to see violence flee the world, be more generous to everybody! That is the Christian ethic! That is what I don’t see happening. And when I speak up about it in my own ways, I’m met with violence,” Ritchson said.
Public Reaction and Industry Scrutiny
One observer noted that the actor's political commentaries are more extreme than typical celebrity statements, drawing attention from his fan base.
“The actor's political rants are even worse than what Robert De Niro says on a given day. It's hysterical blather, and his ‘Reacher’ fans are noticing,” a critic commented.
The critic further raised questions regarding Ritchson's actions: “That brings to mind two questions. If his film studios are begging him to stay apolitical, why doesn't he listen to them? Did that actually happen? Do other film studios ask their stars to avoid political screeds in interviews? Doesn't he realize the precious gift he's been given, to be able to headline major motion pictures? Doesn't he understand how fleeting that kind of fame can be and how audiences might be turned off by his unhinged rhetoric?”
